Theater Performance – Art Exhibition – Book Edition
Draught was a poetic and dramaturgical translation and examination of contemporary relevance of ideas, concepts of exile, belonging, love, and questions about our humanity contained in a myth of Ariadne and Theseus.
The project was created as the result of the collaboration between the director Luca Walewski from Centre Of Performing Arts MITOS (Cyprus), Dawid Zakowski from Sztuka Nowa (Poland) and visual artist Kasia Pol.
Projects was developed in 2012 in Poland and Cyprus with support of Grotowski Centre with a cast of international performers. The work was premiered in Limassol in Cyprus and was accompanied by a site specific art installation Ariadne (by Kasia Pol and community) and book publication.
In Cyprus the creators involved Filipino maids in the project, a group of women who collectively took on the role of the mythical Ariadne, a woman living in exile, searching for home, longing for past life with no point of returning. Through weaving personal, local and foreign myths and stories Draught questioned fears of ‘unknown’ and arrival of ‘other’, and it looked at how as a collective we can dream how to co-exist in a new world.
